GREAT BERNERA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TRUST
what we do
The Great Bernera Community Development Trust (GBCDT) was formed in 2013. Our activities range from pursuing a Buyout of the island to advancing Community Development through helping New Enterprises and managing Community Lands and Assets, to providing Services which further the social and economic development of the island, as well as protecting and preserving the natural environment and sites of architectural, historic or other importance to the community.
These are some of our current projects (click on the images for more information about each one):

Our outgoings
As well as the construction and maintenance of new facilities, our outgoings also include purchasing and maintaining equipment, plus insurance costs and utilities (water, electricity and internet).
At present our expenses far exceed our income, however, once the Facilities Building at Kirkibost pier is finished and we have received the completion certificate from building control, we will be able to arrange insurance and advertise the facilities for public use, which will generate much needed revenue.Â
The delay in completing the Facilities Building is to do with the asset transfer of the land on which it sits. We will provide updates on this as soon as progress is made.
who we are
