campervans and camping
campervans and motorhomes
There are a number of places available in Bernera to park up your motorhome for the night, the most popular by far being the parking area at Bosta Beach, although we are also currently in the process of developing serviced campervan hookups at Kirkibost pier.
NOTE: There is no chemical toilet disposal point (CDP) in Bernera. The nearest public CDP is at Laxdale Holiday Park in Stornoway. Please do NOT dispose of chemical waste anywhere in Bernera. For more CDPs in Lewis and Harris, please refer to this map.
Please help us to keep our islands special by following this guidance for campervan users.
SERVICED HOOKUPS AT KIRKIBOST PIER
This facility is currently under development but when completed will provide water, electricity, a toilet and shower block (showers are coin operated and take £1 coins and 20p pieces only) and laundry facilities.
Note there is no toilet waste disposal at the pier – the nearest public chemical disposal point (CDP) is at Laxdale Holiday Park in Stornoway. Please respect our island and do not dispose of chemical waste anywhere at the pier. For more CDPs in Lewis and Harris, please refer to this map.

PARKING AREA AT BOSTA BEACH
The area around Bosta Beach is maintained by Tobson Common Grazings, who work to preserve the land, maintain the walks and repair fencing and dry stone walls. The Grazings Committee receives no funding for this work, so donations are a valuable source of income. The suggested donation for a campervan is £10 per night.
There are public toilets at Bosta Beach, but no showers, electricity or other services. There is also (blissfully!) no phone signal.
Note there is no chemical toilet waste disposal at Bosta Beach – the nearest public chemical disposal point (CDP) is at Laxdale Holiday Park in Stornoway. Please respect our island and do not dispose of chemical waste in the dunes, at the beach or in the public toilets. For more CDPs in Lewis and Harris, please refer to this map.
Please be careful around livestock in this area and keep dogs under close control.
camping
There is no official campsite in Bernera but camping is possible within the dunes at Bosta Beach. The suggested donation for a tent is £5.
There are public toilets but no showers, electricity or phone signal.
Please be careful around livestock and keep dogs under close control.
Put out any fires, clean up after you depart and leave no trace of your stay.
