There are four main community groups in Bernera: the Community Association takes care of (among other things) the Community Centre; the Community Council looks after public spaces and facilities; the Development Trust is concerned with the Estate Buyout and the economic and social development of the island; and the Historical Society runs the Museum in Breaclete and the Iron Age House in Bosta.
